From worn component or drawing to finished industrial work

Industrial customers come to Héðinn when equipment needs to be fabricated, machined, rebuilt, or improved. The workshop brings steel fabrication, precision machining, wear-part processing, and mechanical service together, so a job can move between disciplines without being handed off to disconnected suppliers.

That matters when downtime is expensive, a drawing is missing, tolerances are tight, or a part has to survive heavy wear once it leaves the workshop. The team can measure a worn component, machine or fabricate a replacement, and install it on site.

Carbon and stainless steel fabrication

Frames, platforms, chutes, and structural steelwork in carbon steel, with a dedicated stainless bay for fish processing, food contact, and hygiene-critical work.

Materials And Machines

Stock on the floor and the machines to work it

Holding material in stock shortens the route from request to finished work. The workshop keeps the grades most commonly needed for industrial and process work, including S355 structural carbon steel, stainless 304 and 316, Domex high-strength plate, and Hardox 450 and 500 wear-resistant plate.

Plate is cut on laser, waterjet, and plasma machines, then formed and welded into finished shape. In the machining bays, CNC and manual lathes and mills produce and repair components in the same building, so fabrication and machining can be combined on a single job.

ViwateQ surface treatment for stainless steel

ViwateQ is an innovation in the surface treatment of stainless steel: instead of acid-washing after production, the steel is treated with a special silk material and water. The finish keeps salt and food residue from sticking to and corroding the surface, and treated 304 stainless gains corrosion protection comparable to traditional 316.

Héðinn is the only company in Iceland offering this environmentally friendly treatment. The purpose-built ViwateQ facility takes projects up to 20 tonnes in weight, 15 metres in length, and 6 metres in height.

Define the job

Send a drawing, a sample part, or a description of the operating problem. The team confirms material, tolerances, and the right fabrication or machining route.

Cut or machine

Plate is cut on laser, waterjet, or plasma machines, and components are turned or milled on CNC and manual equipment as the job requires.

Form, weld, and finish

Bending, rolling, welding, and finishing bring the work to its final shape, with stainless and Hardox handled to their specific requirements.

Deliver or install on site

Finished work is checked against specification and handed over ready to fit, or installed and commissioned on site by the same team.
