Electric trawl winches
Kongsberg Maritime electric trawl winches are equipped with permanent magnet (PM) motors that are directly connected to a trawl drum without a gearbox. This results in low inertia, which minimizes tension spikes in the trawl wire and reduces the risk of damage if the trawl gets caught on the seabed. Thanks to their excellent dynamic performance, these winches are particularly well suited for pelagic fishing, where the trawl board do not touch the seabed — reducing fuel consumption and minimizing seabed impact.
Winches with 2–4 PM motors and a gearbox, or 'Multi-drive' winches, are also available.
