Eðvarð Ingi Björgvinsson returns to Héðinn

Eðvarð Ingi Björgvinsson has been appointed Deputy CEO of Héðinn. Eðvarð is very familiar with the company, having in recent years served as CEO of its subsidiary, Héðinshurðir, and before that led Héðinn’s Kongsberg division from 2016 to 2020. He will work alongside Rögnvaldur Einarsson, the current CEO, until the end of the year, after which he will fully assume the role of CEO.

“We are delighted to welcome Eddi back to the parent company. He knows everything about the operations,” says Rögnvaldur Einarsson, CEO of Héðinn.

Master Machinist and Secondary School Teacher
“It is a great honor to be entrusted with leading Héðinn into the exciting times ahead in fisheries and industry, particularly in connection with the energy transition and new production technologies. The company possesses a tremendous history and expertise, which is vital to build the future upon,” says Eðvarð Ingi, who is a trained Master Machinist and secondary school teacher, and is also pursuing studies in Business Administration at Reykjavík University.

Héðinn provides services in Iceland for the Norwegian company Kongsberg Maritime, including the sale of equipment and solutions from Kongsberg and Rolls Royce Marine, as well as installation, renewal, maintenance, and repair of engines and machinery.

Long-standing cooperation with Rolls Royce
For many years, Héðinn was the agent for Rolls Royce Marine ship engines and operated the only authorized workshop not directly owned by Rolls Royce Marine. In 2019, Rolls Royce Marine merged into Kongsberg Maritime.
The history of cooperation with these international industrial giants in the construction of engines and machinery for ships spans more than seven decades of Héðinn’s operations. The partnership began in 1951, when service for the Norwegian Brattvaag winch systems was launched, and for many years Héðinn manufactured Brattvaag winch systems under a special license.

Brattvaag and a number of well-known manufacturing and service companies within the fisheries industry — including several of Héðinn’s key partners — merged with Rolls Royce Marine in the last century, and today they all operate together under the Kongsberg umbrella.
