Grundartangi is home to aluminum and ferro-silicon smelters that run around the clock. Plants of this scale need mechanical support close at hand, with people who know the equipment and can respond quickly when maintenance or repairs are needed.
Héðinn operates a dedicated Grundartangi department with around 15 employees in a 1,500 m2 facility, an on-site team embedded at the smelters. This presence covers routine maintenance, mechanical service, steel fabrication, and equipment repair and replacement, backed by the wider workshop and engineering capacity of the company.
Because the team is on site, smelter operators get a fast, familiar mechanical partner for both planned work and unplanned repairs.
