Bergen Engines

Medium-speed engine support for marine and power applications

Bergen Engines is a long-established Norwegian builder of medium-speed diesel and gas engines used in marine propulsion, auxiliary power, and land-based power generation. Many of these engines are in service on vessels and in power installations connected to the Icelandic fleet. The latest generation, the B33:45, has over 150 cylinders in service today across the fleet Héðinn supports.

Héðinn is Bergen Engines’ sales and service partner for Iceland, the Faroe Islands, and Greenland. The Ship and Machinery Department carries out preventive maintenance, overhaul work, and fault diagnosis, and coordinates parts supply to keep engines running reliably through their service life. The team has serviced these engines in Iceland since 1985, through their years under the Bergen Diesel and Rolls-Royce names.

Work is carried out at the quayside, on site, or in the Hafnarfjörður workshop, depending on the scope and the operator's schedule.

From engine inquiry to reliable operation

Bergen engine work follows a defined path from assessment through parts supply and service to verified operation.

1
Step 1

Describe the engine and issue

Share the engine model, the application, and the work needed, whether that is scheduled maintenance, an overhaul, or a fault that has taken the engine out of service.

2
Step 2

Confirm parts and lead times

Héðinn checks stock and coordinates with suppliers to confirm parts availability and delivery before the operator commits to a schedule.

3
Step 3

Workshop or on-site service

The Ship and Machinery Department carries out the work in the Hafnarfjörður workshop, at the quayside, or on site, depending on scope and access.

4
Step 4

Test and return to service

Operation is verified before handover, and the engine returns to service with documentation of the work carried out.
