Long-Standing Partnership

One partner for Kongsberg Maritime systems across the vessel

Kongsberg Maritime is one of the most established marine systems suppliers serving the Icelandic fishing and commercial fleet. Its portfolio spans vessel design, propulsion, deck machinery, and integrated automation, much of it built on the engineering traditions of Ulstein, Kamewa, and Brattvaag.

The collaboration dates back to 1951, when Héðinn first signed a winch-equipment agreement with Brattvaag Hydraulik. Héðinn is today an authorized service provider for Kongsberg Maritime in Iceland, providing sales, installation, service, and spare-parts support. The Ship and Machinery Department connects supplier-backed product knowledge with local workshop and field-service capacity, so vessel owners deal with one team across the whole Kongsberg range.

Whether the project is a newbuild specification, a planned upgrade, or an urgent repair, Héðinn coordinates parts, installation, and technical support to keep the vessel working.

Kongsberg Systems

Four system areas, one point of contact

Héðinn supplies and services the main Kongsberg Maritime systems found on working vessels, and links each to the specialists who support it.

Propulsion systems

Support across the equipment lifecycle

From first specification to long-term service, Héðinn covers the full Kongsberg Maritime scope with one team.

1
Step 1

Sales and specification

Héðinn helps specify the right Kongsberg system for the vessel type and operation, drawing on decades of installed-fleet experience.

2
Step 2

Installation and integration

The Ship and Machinery Department installs and integrates equipment with existing propulsion, deck, and control systems, for newbuild and retrofit projects alike.

3
Step 3

Service and maintenance

Planned maintenance, fault diagnosis, and repair, at the quayside or in the Hafnarfjörður workshop, keep systems operating reliably.

4
Step 4

Spare-parts support

Genuine Kongsberg Maritime parts are sourced through the supplier network, with common items held in stock to reduce off-hire time.

Installed Across the Fleet

Kongsberg products have been proven in Icelandic vessels for decades

Kongsberg Maritime equipment can be found in over 100 vessels around Iceland, much of it installed and maintained by Héðinn over many years, with service available around the clock.

That installed base is a practical advantage. The team knows the systems, holds parts for common models, and can advise on the point where a targeted upgrade is more sensible than continued repair of an older generation.

Fleet Example

Ilivileq: the Kongsberg range on one working trawler

When Brim's 82-metre stern trawler Ilivileq GR 2-201 arrived in Reykjavík in 2020, it carried the breadth of the range Héðinn supports: an NVC 375 WP vessel design, Promas propulsion, the Kongsberg Electric Winch system with permanent-magnet motors, and Acon-R integrated control and monitoring.

Vessels like Ilivileq show what one supplier can cover across a modern working vessel. The same systems, installed across the Icelandic fleet, are what the Ship and Machinery Department supports every day.
