Hardox certification is granted by SSAB, the world's largest producer of wear-resistant steel, to companies that meet strict requirements in expertise, equipment, inventory, and workmanship. Héðinn holds that certification and is the sole Icelandic member of the global Hardox Wearparts network.

Hardox wear-resistant steel delivers more than three times the wear life of conventional structural steel while retaining full structural strength. That combination makes it the right choice wherever abrasion, impact, and repeated material contact shorten the service life of standard plate components.

Héðinn stocks Hardox 450 and 500 in thicknesses from 1 mm to 50 mm. Both grades are available for immediate use in fabrication projects, reducing lead time for customers who need fast turnaround on replacement parts or wear assemblies.

From worn component to finished Hardox part

A straightforward route from problem description to fabricated replacement, handled by the same team that holds the stock and runs the cutting machines.

Step 1

Describe the wear point

Send a drawing, photograph, failed part, or site description. The team reviews the wear mode and identifies the most appropriate Hardox grade and geometry.

Step 2

Select grade and thickness

Héðinn recommends the right Hardox grade based on abrasion level, impact exposure, and dimensional constraints. Hardox 450 and 500 are cut directly from stock.

Step 3

Cut and form the plate

The workshop uses laser, waterjet, and plasma cutting for Hardox plate. Forming and welding follow to bring the part to its finished shape and fit.

Step 4

Deliver or install on site

Finished parts are handed over ready to fit, or Héðinn can install on site. The service team can also advise on fastening, anchoring, and liner retention.
